Chef John’s Gourmet Products LLC was formed in 2005 by Chef John Mengler to capitalize on the success that he has had in his private catering business JBMyChef Catering.
The catering business has been manufacturing and using the Dr. Johnny’s brand of BBQ sauce for the past 4 years. In addition to the catering business, Chef John has been a guest chef and instructor at William Sonoma for the past 8 years, most recently at the Columbus Circle location. In the summer of 2005 he departed to focus his efforts on the rollout of the Dr. Johnny’s product line
Our flagship product Dr Johnny’s Bourbon Tonic Elixir is the 2002 recipient of the SCOVIE Award in the BBQ Sauce category. Dr. Johnny’s was also featured in CookShack Newsletter in September of this year. The products have been test marketed in the Northeast at various fairs, festivals and retail locations during the summer of 2005 and were met with tremendous success.
